Meet the Scholé Leadership Team
Who are we?
Scholé Homeschool Center of Harrisburg is a classically-minded group of students, parents, and educators meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays in Harrisburg, PA. Our vision is to create a peaceful learning environment where families help each other to pursue academic excellence in the context of a Christian community that promotes the contemplation of truth, goodness, and beauty. Classes are available for Pre-K through High School. We are a cooperative group and rely on the participation of our families to accomplish our goals.
Scholé Director - Kristi Book
As director, Kristi coordinates the rest of the leadership committee to ensure that the Scholé mission is fulfilled. The proud mama of a 2025 Scholé graduate, Kristi has shared her love of learning through teaching Grammar School language arts for many years. This year, as her youngest has entered the Upper School, she’s teaching a Government class for juniors and seniors.
Curriculum Director- Lizz Barker
Lizz oversees curricula and teacher education at Schole, seeking to keep our educational practices aligned with classical philosophy. Her goal is that her six children, as well as all the children at Scholé, will, in the words of John Ruskin, “Know what it is to see the sky… know what it is to breathe it. And they will know, best of all, what it is to behave under it, as in the presence of a Father who is in heaven.”
Carla serves our community by coordinating the upper school. With two decades of homeschool experience and two handfuls of kids, she and her family have richly benefitted from Scholé over the years. She loves walking alongside both students and parents in the final stretch of the journey, where the baton of instruction is largely handed off to our amazing teachers.
Upper School Director - Carla Snyder
Jessica coordinates and supports Grammar School teachers. She maintains tone and discipline and oversees the functioning of the Grammar School on co-op days. Jessica enjoys learning alongside her children, receiving a classical education the second time around. She loves connecting with kids, particularly over great books and poetry.
Grammar School Director - Jessica Margeson
Melanie oversees and coordinates Pre-Grammar teachers. She maintains order and discipline and manages the Pre-Grammar school on co-op days. She firmly believes that when the seeds of meaningful truth, playful wonder, and delight in learning are planted amongst our youngest learners, beautiful fruit will follow for years to come!
